At Very Best Portraits, our goal is to provide you with a quality piece of art that you can treasure for years to come. To that end, we use the finest materials available and take the extra steps necessary to assure it will last a lifetime.

Our pet portraits are rendered on museum-quality canvas or the highest quality archival papers using a high-resolution giclée printing process. All canvas portraits are sealed with a satin finish UV-resistant varnish.

Types of portraits:

Stretched canvases are wrapped around a 1.5-inch thick wood stretcher frame, backed with felt or mat board and prepared for hanging with both hardware and hanging wire.

Rolled canvases or Textured Paper portraits are not mounted and are ready for finishing and framing when you receive them.

Mounted Paper pet portraits are mounted on a contemporary birch wood block that is 1-1/2 inch thick. The sides are painted black. These portraits look great sitting on a shelf or mantle, but we include hardware in case you want to hang it on a wall.

Artistic style:

Our goal and philosophy is to capture the personality of your pet. Your artwork should bring to mind fond memories. Our portraits are not simple renditions of breeds. The finished portrait should look like your dog, not just a dog (or cat, or horse, or other pet.) Your finished portrait will be a piece of art, not a cartoon or a caricature.

Our hand-crafted backgrounds provide you with a wide range of contemporary and classical expressions that help to make your pet portrait unique and appealing.

Our Portrait Jewelry and Stationery:

We also offer a range of jewelry and stationery items featuring renderings of your pets. All products are designed to display and preserve your pet portrait for a lifetime. As with our portraits, our jewelry is designed to be a keepsake that reminds you of your pet for years to come.

Ordering Process:

Our website is designed to walk you through the process of placing a complete order. You will need to have your digital photograph available to complete your order.

For a portrait, just select the type of portrait you would like (Stretched, rolled, paper or mounted paper). Then select a background style. There are four color options for each background style. Once the background is selected, you will have several options to choose from including the size and orientation of your portrait. The website will update the pricing of the portrait or other item as you select different options. You will then need to attach your photograph to the order and type any special instructions, if any, in the appropriate field. Just click on Add to Cart to finish your portrait order. You can continue shopping for additional items if you wish.

Ordering jewelry and stationery have a few additional options available, but the process is similar and requires you to upload your photograph to complete the order.

Once your order is complete, you will receive an email confirmation and receipt.


Within 7 days, we will email you a proof whether you have ordered a portrait or any other item that features a portrait of your pet, such as jewelry or stationery.

You will need to review your proof and reply to that email to approve or request revisions to your portrait.

Once you have approved your proof, we will produce your portraits (or other products) and ship them within 10 days.

You will receive an email notification when your shipment has been sent.

Shipping and Handling:

Our default shipment carrier is UPS. However, within the United States, we reserve the option to send via USPS (United States Postal Service) when we feel it is advantageous in terms of costs or delivery time. We offer ground and three-day service domestically. Internationally, we offer UPS Worldwide Express and Expedited services. We can only deliver to those countries that UPS serves.

Shipping charges are automatically calculated by our shopping cart during the checkout process. You will have the ability to calculate shipping charges before completing and placing your order.

If you live in the Portland, OR area, our website will give you the option of picking up your order and saving on shipping charges. We will arrange pickup with you via email once your order is complete.

Even though we provide significant packaging and finishing to our products before we ship, we do not charge a handling fee.

Payment & Security

We process all payments via PayPal. You can use your PayPal account or pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover cards without creating a PayPal account.
